Races and Runs

PRs and such:

What the heck is an AG%? Age-graded percentage. Basically, it’s the ratio of your time to the world-class standard for that event for your age and gender.  So the higher it is, the better you are, relatively speaking.  It should be noted that I used current data to calculate these; a true AG% is contemporaneous with the performance (i.e. my 5K times from 1998 should be compared to the class performances for that year, not for 2011 or whatever). But it’s still a fun (approximate) metric. For a better explanation, check out this NYRR article on age grading.  Or calculate your own!

  3. Love the list of races…I should really organize mine! If only you lived in Philly, I think we’d be great training buddies! (which are surely hard to find!)

  4. I’m in awe of your PR’s! A goal of mine is to be able to run a 5k at a sub 7:00 pace. I’m right on the cusp always better 7:15- 7:45. I hope to get where you are someday!

  5. I like the chart! It looks like a great way to track and compare. But I’m kind of a nerd about charts and graphs. :)

  6. I’m surprised that your 5K track time is slow… I don’t know much about track, but I would have guessed it’d have less people in the way, and you’d be able to run faster!

    • @Sara – I didn’t race the 5K on the track very often, just once or twice in college! I was more of a 1500/3000 gal. But yes, for most people, their track times are faster!

  7. I don’t see the Indy 500 Mini Marathon listed.
Have you had any interest in running that one?
This year, 2013, was a great run around Indy and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
You should look at running this one!
    My time: 1:54:43 (PR)
I’m realirivly new at running and this one felt great!
